Technology
Technology education provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary for producing quality products that effectively either solve a problem or meet a need. They do so within a context that enables them to acquire an understanding of technology's role in the world and of the effects that specific technologies or processes have on society and the environment. Students develop skills in creating and communicating ideas, and in solving complex and varied problems. They use a range of equipment and resources in order to create their products. For example: • A computer for processing data. • A saw and other tools for reshaping wood. • A sewing machine and over locker for constructing garments. • A food processor or blender. In technology education programmes, students are provided with the challenge of designing and producing products that satisfy the needs of both the user and the wider community.
